Duties:

Assist and support EPA Region 8's Emergency Management Branch

• Provide technical editing skills to assist On-Scene Coordinators (OSCs) with drafting, reviewing, updating, filing and maintaining technical documents, including Action memoranda (Action Memos) and Pollution Reports (POLREPs). 45%
• Assist the Emergency Management Branch with Outreach through written, photo, and video assignments. 10%
• Assist OSCs and/or the Emergency Response Supervisor in tracking site activities (e.g., milestones, planned schedules, expended costs, work completed, etc.) and providing updates of same to various EPA personnel. 15%
• Assist in maintaining R8 Emergency Management related website(s), including uploading Response, Removal, and/or cleanup related information to various EPAOSC and/or selected web destinations. 15%
• Assist Emergency Management Branch in responding to information requests including the Freedom of Information Act, Headquarters' reporting requirements, and other internal Region 8 sources. 15%

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental, Engineering, related fields. OR Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Superfund removal and emergency response

• Strong computer software skills
• Experience required with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Fax, Copying Machine, Multiple Phone Lines, Scanner

• Training will be provided for program specific nomenclature, software, report generation, website development/management, Incident Command System (ICS) and other topics peculiar to the Response program.
• Overnight travel: Potentially 1-2 days per month on an infrequent basis.
• Air travel anticipated: Potentially 1-2 days per month on an infrequent basis.
• Rental cars: Potentially 1-2 days per month on an infrequent basis.
• Health Safety Training: OSHA 1910.120 HAZWOPER Training
• Health and Safety Considerations: Enrollee will be responsible for taking HAZWOPER training with reimbursement of training costs through NOWCC grant.
• Walking undeveloped property, often in mountainous areas. Photo and video tasks will require visits to Superfund Removal sites where exposure may potentially occur.
• Required Safety Gear: SEE Enrollee will be required (generally) to wear coveralls, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, and safety goggles/glasses. Cost of steel-toed shoes will be reimbursed through the grant (up to $300). All other safety gear will be provided by EPA.
• Safety Gear Use: Walking undeveloped property, often in mountainous areas. Photo and video tasks will require visits to Superfund Removal sites where exposure may potentially occur.
