The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. You'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Pay rate: $15.00/hr. This position requires a background security check including 5 year questionnaire, fingerprinting and identification verification prior to start. Duties:

This position will assist EPA’s Dallas office with outreach efforts on Brownfields, various Pesticides program initiatives and Lead Based Paint Poisoning Prevention Sustainable Materials Management, Pollution Prevention and Smart Sectors . Provide support to EPA Region 6's Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Prevention Program (Lead Program) by developing partnerships and providing outreach and education related to lead poisoning prevention rules, regulations and best practices; providing lead poisoning prevention technical and compliance assistance to the regulated community of training providers, contractors consultants, property managers, landlords, and child occupied facilities, as well as pediatricians, building code officials, and the general public.

  • Support Brownfields, Pesticides (Worker Protection, and Integrated Pest Management), Lead Based Paint Poisoning Prevention, Pollution Prevention, Sustainable Materials Management and Smart Sector outreach, education and program prioritization. Assists staff with writing success stories, newsletter articles, and updating websites. 50%
  • Assist staff and managers with administrative activities associated with 1) Brownfields grant workshop registration and logistics. 2) programmatic record keeping, filing and management and 3) maintain and updated programmatic Continuous Improvement Process, Flow and Huddle Boards. 30%
  • Support various Pesticides Program initiatives (i.e. vector control, etc.) and Lead Paint Risk Hazard Reduction programs. Answers the Region 6 Pesticides and Lead Paint Hotline providing responsive material to caller and/or directing calls as necessary to appropriate staff. 20%

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or other science-related experience. Experience in computer application, database management, and marketing OR BA/BS Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or other science-related degree; or Marketing or Information Technology.

  • Experience required with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Scanner

Other:

  • On the job training via webinars and conference calls.
  • Overnight travel: 5-10 days per month
  • Air travel anticipated: 2-3 trips per month
  • Rental cars: 2-3 trips per month SEE enrollees MAY NOT operate government-owned vehicles.
