Virtual Meeting Support Technician

This is a service-wide training support enrollee position in the Learning and Development (L&D) unit of the National Park Service. The duty station can be at any one of the L&D site locations: D.C., Stephen T. Mather Training Center (STMA), or Horace Albright Training Center (HOAL). This will be determined by the Program Manager overseeing the L&D Team. This position is eligible for remote work. The National Park Service (NPS) Experienced Services Program was established to create a unique partnership to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the National Park Service to provide scientific, technical, operational, and administrative services in support of the NPS mission. NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 42 weeks, subject to change based on budget and other factors. A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Location, hours, and hourly pay are noted in this position description. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as “Enrollees” and are not employees of the NPS or NOWCC. NOWCC is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out the National Park Service’s mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current, to access new training opportunities, to engage in gainful project-based positions, and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy and their own financial security.

Duties:

The enrollee will provide a variety of management support services essential to the direction and operation of the L&D program group and training community and stakeholders served. The enrollee is responsible for supporting the instructor in set up, media operations, scheduling and support during training presentations in a Webex, MS Teams, or other online media.

  • During virtual training or meetings will serve as the facilitator, managing technology and meeting tools, supporting and running the media in the background, including coordination, troubleshooting, managing breakout rooms, and assisting the instructor in the management of the course. 60%
  • Enrollee will provide SME expertise for virtual classroom design recommendations, assist instructors in conversion from classroom to virtual media, schedule and coordinate the media for virtual training presentations under the direction of the instructor. The enrollee will troubleshoot and assist attendees with attendance, reasonable accommodations, materials, and appropriate computer applications. Enrollee will conduct post-delivery debrief and make recommendations for future presentations. 30%
  • The enrollee will assist in other instructional related assignments. 10%

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 year(s) of experience in virtual training administration, learning and development or related. OR BA/BS Degree in Education, Adult Learning and Development or related field

  • Knowledge in preparing and presenting oral and written materials. Working knowledge of virtual training platforms.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Cisco Webex, MS Teams

Other:

  • Physical requirements: Work is primarily performed in an office setting, where adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation is present. Work may occasionally be performed in outdoor settings with exposure to uneven terrain, moderate slopes, and inclement weather.
